Congratulations to Pat Padgett who was presented with a Laurel Award at our County AGM! Pat is a leader with 5th Barnsley Guides in Barnsley Central Division and has held many roles over the years including Division and County Commissioner, Trainer and Training Coordinator, Mentor and Chair of the Hesley Wood Guide House Committee.
The Laurel Award is the second highest award in Guiding and is presented for an outstanding contribution to Guiding which Pat has certainly made!
Below are some quotes from citations which supported Pat’s Award:
“Pat is very passionate about Guiding, and it shows clearly through her unit and her work for both Division and County. She would go above and beyond to give her girls the best Guiding experience. Throughout my time as one of Pat’s Girls, I experienced things I wouldn’t have without Guiding such a going to my first concert or camping for the first time. She gives up a lot time to Guiding to visit other leaders at their meeting places for support and mentoring”
“I have known Pat for over 56 years. We first met when I went as a cadet to the guide unit that Pat was involved in. There were very few guides in this unit but Pat was the instigator in getting new girls to join on quite a regular basis. It was very obvious even at that time that her enthusiasm and keenness for guiding was at the forefront of her being.”
“I am sure if you cut Pat in half the words Guiding would though her like in a stick of rock! An amazing person, doing amazing things in an amazing organisation”
Thank you Pat for your outstanding contribution to Girlguiding South Yorkshire!
